ONE YEAR MASON APPRENTICE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM ALSO OFFERING ADULT EDUCATION COURSES! View class schedule PROGRAM OVERVIEW The one-year Mason Apprentice Certificate program is designed for the student to develop skills and knowledge in the brick, block and stone masonry fields; trades that provide employment today as it did in the days of the pyramids. The student will develop skills through lab projects, classroom instruction and community involvement projects. Apply online! REQUIRED COURSES *Courses run daily 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mon thru Friday Fall Semester: Starts September 2nd, 2008 1st Quarter (10 weeks) September 2, 2008 to November 7, 2008 Bricklaying I: Construction safety, tools and equipment, brick manufacturing, mortar, bonds, 4" wall construction, estimating, cleaning. 2nd Quarter (10 weeks) November 10, 2008 to January 30, 2009 Blocklaying: 4', 8" and 12" wall construction, block manufacturing, glass blocks, retaining walls, estimating. (Nov. 27/28, Dec. 24/25 & Jan 1–No Classes) Spring Semester: Starts February 2nd, 2009 3rd Quarter (10 weeks) February 2, 2009 to April 3, 2009 Bricklaying II: Piers. arches, chimneys, fireplaces, 8" wall construction, paving, business management. Prerequisite: Bricklaying I or bricklaying experience. 4th Quarter (10 weeks) April 6, 2009 to June 12, 2009 Stone Masonry: Dry and wet lay, paving, retaining walls.   ADMISSIONS Students must be 18 years of age or older with solid basic skills in reading, writing and math. Small class sizes for individualized attention: for the certificate program we only accept 12 students per year. Apply online!   LIVING HERE We're expanding!
