ONE-YEAR MASON APPRENTICE CERTIFICATE
PROGRAM
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The one-year Mason Apprentice Certificate program is
designed for the student to develop skills and knowledge
in the brick, block and stone masonry fields; trades
that provide employment today as it did in the days of
the pyramids.
The student will develop skills through lab projects,
classroom instruction and community involvement projects. Download

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
*Course runs daily 8:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. , Mon thru Friday
Topics covered during the year include, but are not
limited to the following:
- Construction Safety
- Tools & Equipment
- Brick Manufacturing,
including a tour of a brick factor
- Mortar
- Bonds
- 4” & 8” Brick Wall Construction
- Estimating
- Cleaning.
- Piers
- Arches

- Fireplaces
- 4', 8” 12” Block Wall Construction
- Block Manufacturing
- Glass Blocks
- Retaining Walls
- Paving
- Dry & Wet Lay
- Veneers
- Paving

Students must complete 1350 hours of instruction, including
completion of the numerous assigned projects during the
entire course to graduate. The course runs from September
to June each year.
ADMISSIONS
Students must be 18 years of age or older with solid
basic skills in reading, writing and math. Small class
sizes for individualized attention: for the certificate
program we only accept 12 students per year. Download

LIVING HERE
Up to 8 students enrolled in the full-time certificate
program may live on-campus, fee schedule can be found

BUNKHOUSE OPTION
A one week course is offered to church groups interested
in developing building skills to be used in the mission
field. Groups of 8 or less may stay on the premises in
the bunkhouse. View
